Sundance Grant
Surreal day
I just did something I’ve wanted to do for 40 years. Apply for a grant worth over $300,000 to help produce a documentary I want to produce. I’m in awe…disbelief that I finally found the way, took the time and did it.
and the best part is, I think I have a shot.
June 3-7 1981 I attended the National Video Festival with my office manager Judy Myerly…Jude was a very special woman…I miss her and her very talented husband Phil…anyway, Robert Redford was at this conference that was about promoting the use of small format video. I just found the booklet online.
I had this poster in my office for years. Redford created the Sundance Film Festival that year…and I just applied for one of their documentary grants to help produce “Monumental Struggle”.
Their deadline was 2 hours ago…and I submitted my “term paper” at 12:30…time to spare. I’ve been writing by hand on legal pads all day…and my beautiful wife has typed it all up. By the time I finished proofing and editing I was so tired I was writing pure nonsense…at least I hope I caught most of it.
I had the date wrong in my schedule. I thought I had till Thursday…and we only found out about this opportunity recently.
Good friends provided “testimonials” that have touched my heart….I slept for a few hours…now I’m going back to bed. The birds are chirping.
Please back our Indiegogo if you haven’t…Sundance doesn’t hand out any $$ for 6 months. Monumental Struggle
PEACE to all
