What a shame to shut away this exhibit. It would be a wonderful addition to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. I hope there are talks.
Gail yes it would, but as a "preservationist" I'd really prefer to see it stay in the area that it relates so directly to in the Harpers Ferry-Charles Town region. In just a few days we've identified a possible location, a business that recently closed and appears to have the space and parking. There are a lot of hoops to jump through but I'm nudging at connecting those dots. Watch here for more info.
When we lived in Winchester we often took visitors to Harper’s Ferry. I remember the lovely view of the Potomac from there. Where we live now in Pasadena, CA is where many of the Brown family moved to and I believe are buried here.
We returned to Winchester a couple of times after we moved back to California and I still have fond memories of our time there. I imagine it has changed since our time there so many years ago.
I love Harpers Ferry, I always feel like I've gone to Europe. I did not know the Browns had moved to Pasadena...I need to research that some.
Harpers Ferry is pretty locked in time because of the NPS rules in the historic district. It really has not changed much in 50 years, compared to most places.
