Great post, Mike!

Nixon had a "mandate" until he didn't. I am proud to say that the first chance I had to vote for president, I cast mine for George McGovern. So "Don't Blame Me, I'm from Massachusetts" would have been a bumper sticker on my car.

Nixon had a lot of faults. The war, heavy drinking, racism, inferiority complex, persecution complex. Generally an insecure sleaze ball. But he signed into law the formation of the EPA. And he began a process of opening relations with China. Jeff Bezos might not be quite the billionaire bozo that he is today without that.

Nixon's faults seem totally quaint now. Trump has outdone him, for sure. I am not a religious person. But I am a big believer in karma - as a natural force. A pendulum, if you will. As the financial dudes all say, "Everything returns to the mean." Which does not sound like what I intended! Take it anyway you want :)

Thanks Bill. Totally agree with you about Nixon. Imagine any Republican today starting the EPA ??? Nixon was an Eagle Scout compared to Trump and his mob. I believe in Karma too...and much of the time it doesn't end well for tyrants. We need to get together sometime and break bread, swap stories and kill a good bottle of wine.
