Living History
A time for action
I have not written in this space for awhile. We have been in the process of selling our over 100 year old home that we have lived in for 17 years ( my longest at any one place) shedding years of stuff, downsizing and finding an appropriate new nest for our future. At 71 my priorities have changed. We have spent 5 nights in the new space and are about 85% unpacked….and are heading out to a few days of much needed R&R in a few hours. I plan to be writing here more in the future.
So, why am I taking time to write and reach out this morning? It’s because we are living history at a high level right now. “Living History” in my world has usually meant folks who put on the uniform or clothing of a time gone by and present themselves in first person, as that time and place. 15,000 Civil War re-enactors portraying the Battle of Antietam for 100,000 spectators is a good example. My crew has documented that kind of thing and lived that reality many times at some of the “hobbies” largest events.
On Wednesday I was able to get our TV and internet back on line and the first news that I saw was that Donald Trump, our former President had been found guilty on all 34 counts. That’s a very historic moment in America & the World, no matter what your politics are.
We are living history in a momentous and intense time. We are more politically divided than I have ever seen. People are talking about the threat of violence over the summer and through this election cycle. I don’t have to rehash the events of the past 6 years. It’s enough to say that Donald Trump has changed the landscape.
The observation that I feel compelled to make to my conservative friends who have voted for DJT in the past is this. Loyalty is usually a good thing. But there are times when continuing to support the “home team” just makes no sense. This is not a high school football game. The outcome really matters to the future of our democracy.
Being a conservative is fine. We are based on a 2 party system. But for that to function, you need 2 parties who care about us & our collective lives…who debate openly and honestly, compromise and create the best stew they can.
The man in the screen grab above is a toxic individual. He is a narcissist bully who has to be the center of attention and have his own way…no matter what. I’ve lived this up close and seen it in action. I was loyal until I wasn’t and then I choose to walk away.
That action saved me to live and grow. Those of you who know me personally, know the truth of this. So my personal advice to those of you who have been loyal to DJT… it’s time to walk away. Please save us from 4 more chaotic years. Lets all move on to something better for us all.
Peace to all…I’m going to go rest and relax with my lovely wife for a bit.

You are so gentle. That may be a winning strategy to save our union by “saving face”.
Thank you. I have an ODD sort of picking, sites to investigate..... & the said sites are going on hiatus or be actively pushed.
