Lies hurt people

We've gone too far

I have not written here for a bit and this is going to be a little different.

My 50 year career has been dedicated to informing people by using mostly video and photos…to helping train people…to selling products…to documenting events, telling historical stories…to doing live events that somehow help people and doing it honestly and clearly. I research a lot…and try to get my facts straight.

I’ve never been in the “news business”. I have sold or given some footage to news outlets to use…and I’ve worked alongside of them at events. Most of them are just folks doing their jobs.

I did work with political campaigns for about 10-12 years in the 80’s & 90’s…with mostly Republicans in Maryland and PA. We did some TV spots and yes we spun some things…and we helped them make speeches…and we spun some things. But we never told outright lies…out of fear of being found out. Because that could end your career. At least then it could. These people had some sense of morality….until I ran into a group that didn’t…and I walked away from it all as a part of my business. I had no stomach for taking advantage of people.

We had never told outright lies to gain an advantage. My mother would have sat me in a corner…and I was 35-40 years old….at the very least I would not have heard the end of it for 3-4 days….and had to promise to never do it again.

I’ve dealt with BIG ego’s. Corporate leaders, rock stars and politicians…and they are all alike. They really like the spotlight and power. But most of them are not dangerous people. They don’t hurt people..at least not on purpose, to somehow make themselves look better or feel better. Their biggest drug, is the applause and adoration from the audience. They love it…they need it. It’s their blood or water.

These recent and on-going hurricanes have proven to me how far we have strayed…how far some are willing to go…the outright lies they will tell in an effort to look better themselves…to score political points in an election with 30 days to go. They are hurting people and getting in the way of real help and relief. That is not the job they are running for. It’s not what we need them to do for us. It’s not what some of them have been elected to do. Partisan garbage has no place in a disaster created by “mother nature” or God or Climate Change or however you want to or need to define it. The fact is these storms are VERY REAL and they are killing and hurting a lot of people. We need the best, most accurate information…not be creating additional chaos with lies and deception. It’s politically obscene and beyond the beyond…at least for me.

In my mind Trump has become Hurricane Donald…a Cat 5 storm who creates additional chaos wherever he goes and whenever he speaks. None of us need that. It’s counter productive and has NO Place in this campaign to be President. I would call on everyone to reach out and demand that he stop it now. It’s just plain irresponsible.

Talk about real issues and try to use some truth and facts…or better yet do something to help the people in need…like Dolly, write a check, send some relief…do something positive for THE PEOPLE. Use all of that influence you say you have and REALLY do something…if you are a real leader, that’s what they do….not make it worse. Get your good friends Putin and Kim…and Orban to send some relief supplies. We do it all the time for other countries in need.

…and we really don’t need weathermen who are afraid to tell the truth about storms. They are just doing their jobs. Call off your dogs…
