Toxic Relationship

If MAGA isn’t feeling “Dazed and Confused” by now, what is it going to take ? Their President, the guy they love and listen to, just VERY publicly said he’s going to buy an electric car from his friend Elon, at an event they staged on the White House lawn on Tuesday.

Now this is the same Donald Trump who for years has called climate change a hoax and is doing everything in his power (and beyond) to slow down or stop any kind of green initiatives, from solar panels to windmills to killing the EPA…and any incentives to buy an electric vehicle.

But now because his DOGE Director is in trouble with his Tesla stock prices, (but Trump says he doesn’t pay attention to stocks)

because people are boycotting Tesla…Trump is going to buy a Tesla…with no test drive…and no invitation to the other American car manufacturers to show off their electric cars.

How do you think they feel, being left out of the party at the White House and selection process ? If Chevy or Ford stocks go down is he going to buy one of their electric cars also ? He can become a collector, like Jay Leno.

Now this is also a man who can’t drive himself anywhere. He has to be in an armoured limo. If he had said he was buying the car for someone who could actually drive it…maybe donate it to someone deserving who really needs a car…like high school kids did in VA for the school janitor….

that would have made some sense and been some good PR. But no…

So MAGA Republicans who have been chanting “Drill Baby Drill” at Trump rallies

are supposed to go out and buy an electric vehicle…but only one from Elon…when they can purchase one cheaper at their Chevy or Ford dealer where they have been getting their pickup trucks for years.

There’s a line on the Tesla website that reads “ accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy with electric cars, solar and renewable energy…”

how’s that perspective sit with folks who have been fighting against the need or value of those things. Is Elon really your guy ? Or a fox in the henhouse ?

Elon has said that “empathy is weakness”, but was this car-nival staged by Trump on Tuesday for his friend Elon a show of some empathy ? When his friend Elon is hurting from a drastic drop in his stock price…it’s ok to help him get past his financial problem, with a show of support for his electric car…but the rest of us are just supposed to suck it up and somehow get by, no matter what the 2 of them do that hurts us ?

I find it all very confusing. Green is bad but Tesla is good. Pain is good for most of us, necessary in this moment …but not for Elon…???? If any MAGA supporters can clarify this…explain how this works and is good or somehow great, I’d really appreciate the insight.

“Dazed and confused” is a song made famous by Led Zeppelin. They used the lyric from John Holmes without credit for many years. Eventually they reached a settlement. Rock and Roll can be a lot like politics. Holmes stated that the song was about pondering leaving a toxic relationship. Some of the lyrics are “ you hurt and abuse, tellin’ all your lies…never bargained for you…”.

I never bought into a toxic relationship with POTUS 47 & DOGE…but a lot of folks did…and now we all are dealing with it.

To the MAGA supporters out there, how much of this self serving behavior are you going to witness and endure…before you say enough is enough and join the rest of us in a real world ?
