CSA vs USA

I believe the new “CSA” is the Corporate States of America, which is what Trump and his MAGA party want. The USA is a place where the elected representatives of the Democratic Party are trying to create a fair and reasonable playing field that works for us all. The CSA wants no restrictions and no, or as few taxes as possible. We are supposed to trust the same people…or their descendants…who sent most of our manufacturing jobs outside of the USA to other countries.

They do everything they can to reduce the US workforce, from self checkout, ATM’s and any do it yourself app they can come up with…that just increases their profits.

I’m not opposed to profit…I NEED to make a profit to exist….I just don’t need a billion dollars to live well. (I’m good with a million, maybe less)

The BIG box stores pretty much killed mom & pop operations…and are now the BIG employers…with greeters, stock clerks…and we check ourselves out…forget about free gift wrapping.

Now the CSA wants us to “round up” to the next dollar, so we are also doing their corporate giving for them.

At this point what used to be the Republican Party has pretty much ceased to exist. The Liz Cheney’s and Mitt Romney’s have been voted out of office in their primaries or are walking away because they can’t deal with it. Ike and Teddy are rhino’s…Lincoln…they want to use his name and his monument when it suits them…

but they protest to save the monuments to the traitor Bobby Lee…who by the way, lost the war his people started to save slavery.

The current MAGA House has gotten almost nothing accomplished and their friends in the Senate block almost any bill worth passing because they think it helps Trump.

I got in a debate yesterday with another substack writer who focuses mostly on monuments. I think she likes Columbus and RE Lee. She went off of that script yesterday to praise corporations and bash big government. We went back and forth a few times and in the end I thanked her for making me really understand that the taxes I pay to this “BIG BAD Government” are actually a bargain….I get, we all get roads and bridges, health research, the best military in the world, clean water, schools and a pile of other things….that we need and use everyday.

On that note, I got to see my tax dollars at work after the Key Bridge disaster here in Baltimore. The Dept of Transportation, the Coast Guard, Navy, Corps of Engineers and many more Fed & State Govt agencies…working with the public sector (and a LOT of expert Union labor) to clear the channel and get the Port of Baltimore back in business…so we could import all of those containers from China

pulp from Brazil, Sugar from South America, cars from Europe…

some of them are pretty sexy… (not a bad Union job…driving those)

and a host of other goods we need and use everyday.

So the BIG BAD Government got the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore back open so the BIG corporations could stay in business. I hope Pete Buttigieg and Les Moore get a thank you card from some of the CEO’s.

On the other hand the BIG Corporations she trusts and wants to empower even more have outsourced, downsized, rightsized and eliminated as many USA jobs as possible. My daughter and her husband both work in remote IT related business that rely on computers for most of what they do…there is no “physical” product…and much of their support teams come from India or South America.

Is any of that to make the service better ? No…it’s all about corporate profits. The company my daughter worked for specialized in one phase of health care. They were acquired by a bigger company that also does health care…and they did not have this niche in their portfolio…so they bought them. About a month ago they eliminated about 1/2 of the workforce at one time, on one zoom call with no warning, locked them all out in 10 minutes and gave them 2 weeks severance….thank you very much.

Yea, I really trust the CEO’s to look out for me and take care of us.

I told the monument lady that she has far more trust in the CSA than I do. I’ve been in board rooms and meetings when the ruthless conversations happen about how to best achieve the next quarters profits…I’ve documented a fast food franchise conference when they came to Washington to lobby to keep the border open…so they can continue to get good cheap labor they can control.

Whatever failings the Big government of the USA has..and they have them…pale compared to an unfettered , unregulated CSA that wants to pay no or minimal tax….

I’m not sure how they would have gotten our Port working again, without those Government agencies they seem to dislike and think we don’t need.

I feel better about paying taxes…now let’s get the CSA and their moguls to pay their fair share and participate with US.
