I agree and believe that he's VERY scarred that a real lone wolf tried to kill him. He has never been physically hurt before...and that's a big blow to a bully. They huff and puff, but they retreat when really confronted by power.

One of the great disappointments of my viewing experience was the professional demise of Kevin Spacey. His Frank Underwood was a state of the art performance. Almost as good as Robin Wright :)

I think Trump is a cornered wounded animal. He has never taken advice from handlers. He has no friends. He is clearly showing signs of dementia. His remarks at a recent fundraiser are telling. "I AM angry" and "I am who I am." At some point it will become so horrible as to be viewed as "blood in the water" by the press.

A verbal self immolation is coming soon.

Bill I agree about Kevin Spacey...I was sad to see that happen...the show was so well done and I had friends who worked on that show. The "set" for Freddie's Rib Joint was about a mile from my house. It was like a carnival down there when they were filming. A lot of that show was shot near here in Baltimore. Yes, Trump is a wounded animal. It's just going to get worse...if he is as much like my Mayor candidate as I think he is, he will either totally implode on stage...or we will not see him at all for awhile.

What you anticipate is going to happen. After watching politics since the mid fifties, I can attest to the invincible power of self destruction.

People really are their own worst enemies. Failure gets in their heads...especially bullies like Trump and they don't know how to handle it. He has to be the hero...or he reverts to victim. It's got to be exhausting...and the constant lies...

I really enjoyed this piece. I do take issue with one part - if we don't think Donald Trump has melted down in public already, I am not sure what the one you are waiting for will look like. He will have to fall to the ground without a sniper, or leave the debate early, or punch someone in public. What else?

What he has done in public does not seem to affect his base. I guess that is the story with cult leaders - they can do no wrong in the eyes of their followers, or it would not be a cult.

Thanks for your question. The meltdowns I'm referring to are so severe the person can not perform...can not really answer questions at all. They are just overwhelmed. Trump can still answer or talk in a way that people can deal with...because they don't expect much from him. It's the difference in a drunk who can drive and one who passes out. I believe Trump is headed toward the "pass out" phase.

i'd been thinking maybe the assassination attempt was actually real... and he was beginning to process and come to some kind of terms with it... finally. and he just didn't wanna risk getting out there when he clearly didn't (still doesn't?) have effective SS protection. this scenario hadn't yet occurred to me.

kind of like watching the wicked witch of the west melting...
