A liar resigns as POTUS

The most famous photo of Nixon has to be the one taken on the helicopter steps with his arms raised up and twin Victory signs above his disgraced head. His people…his Republican Senators and House members had assured him they would Impeach and convict him if he did not resign.

He would choose the slightly more honorable path of resigning…but he would take no responsibility for being in that position. He was a victim of the press, who were “out to get him”….which was true, in a way… because they had the facts, were tenacious following the story and their management backed them up.

They reported that Nixon was a liar, a cheat and a coverup man of the highest order.

Fast forward to today. Another man who lies constantly is still running for President, giving a press conference from his opulent palace in exile lobby.

A few of his fellow Republicans have voted for his impeachment and called him out…

but not enough of them to get the same result we had 50 years ago. Men at the highest levels of GOP power in the Senate and House who said “Trump was responsible for J6” , who said he was “unfit” to be POTUS, men he berated for their lack of loyalty to him….now endorse him for the job they said he was unfit to do.

What a difference 50 years makes in the execution of honor…the belief that facts matter and that truth and justice REALLY are the American way.

It’s Entirely up to those of us who vote, to decide who stands on the Capitol steps on Jan 20, takes the oath of office and sits behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval that afternoon.

Because liars don’t step back and resign any more…they just keep telling the same lies….with a little help from their friends…
