250 years in the making
Historic day
On June 14th, 250 years ago today our representatives created what would become the United States Army. The first troops came from what would become the states of PA, MD and VA to fight against the Kings army. Then the most powerful in the world.
I have an ancestor buried at Church Creek MD, with a Revolutionary War marker on his grave.
I don’t know if he was a part of this first call up of troops, but I intend to find out if I can.
I’ve had ancestors serve the army in most of the nations conflicts and I’m proud of their service. They’ve helped free slaves and defeat fascists.
I’m curious how they would react to the events that are unfolding all around us on June 14, 2025…250 years after our Army was created. It has evolved from a small force with muskets to the largest on the planet with weapons capable of mass destruction.
I just saw these photos of Veterans at the US Capitol, protesting for their rights and against the military parade that will occur later today.

I doubt that any of my ancestors foresaw this as a possibility. Tanks rolling through Washington and No Kings Day protests across the US. There’s 250 years of history being recognized across the country today. We will see the contrasts and what the effects and reactions are tomorrow.

Had a great turnout in our little town today. Info from family members scattered around the country suggests it was a successful day. But...
I have participated in several protests this year and never felt an ounce of fear.
For the first time, I found myself scanning the crowd for someone who might do us harm.
This is the America MAGA has made. Pretty great, eh?
